The Fair

Ah, the fair. Last year around this time, we went to the county fair. I was about 8.5 months pregnant. It was hot; we had fun; we ate Italian sausage and deep-fried oreos; we wondered about returning the next year with a little boy, and what life would be like then. And time flew by, and "this time next year" is now. And so Peter returned Thursday night to experience the Fair from outside the womb.

Sadly, Tom couldn't join because he had his men's meeting. We were planning to skip it all together, but at the last minute Peter and I tagged along with some fun friends.

Here playing with the tractors like the big boys. I neglected to get any livestock pictures, but here are some fine tubers.

It was a late, fun night. Peter loved the big swirling lights and sounds and the rush of air as a panel of screaming teenagers whooshed by on it's way back up to the top. My sweet date to the fair this year far surpassed the ideas I had of him last year and I wonder who he will be (besides an almost 2-year-old!)--and who we will be--when next year's fair rolls around.
