January

No more big trips, just some day-in-the life bits from last month that I don't want to forget.

Some breakfast smoothie help. Yes, stolen pjs. All the time.

Princess Anna, a little more more purpley regally attired.

Taking a close look at our food, with a little help from Daddy's iPhone flashlight.

Building with our buddy Hank

Second round of preschool pics. Amazingly, we were 2 for 2 with this sweet face. I even caved and bought a package from the first preschool. But 2 packages being bit much, I leave you with this fabulous proof screen shot instead.

This below was Friday the 20th. Besides getting a new president that day, the real story was this, my sweet boy goofing off and chatting with me on a really great little Starbucks date immediately after he braved (and he really did!) a visit to the Podiatrist where is flat arches were diagnosed and measured for shoe inserts to help correct them.

The hardest-to-reach (and ugliest) light fixture in our house finally fizzled out. While Tom was changing the bulbs precariously up on our super tall ladder leaning from a landing, we figured why not lose the brass and tacky glass panels as well. Since we wouldn't be up there for a while, we replaced it with what we had on hand, a decorative paper globe on Anna's shelf since before she was born. My least favorite light is now my favorite. May it stay lit forever.

Just a sample of Anna's artsy-fab style now that I let her dress herself most days. And her penchant for whatever grownup shoes she can get her toes on.

Taken by Tom's spy camera. Peter's buddy Addison, in church. Peter had sequestered himself and Adi wandered over and stood there quietly with him for a while, reading with him.

Speaking of buddies...

Proud builder; made it himself

Then we moved on to citiblocks

Seizing a warm(er) day to get some wiggles out and Vitamin D in.

Back by popular demand: a few excerpts from Peter's latest photo album:

Ok...leave me alone now...

Chatting up the lobsters

Our most recent preschool "Singing Day."
I don't post this one lightly, but here's our boy (back middle) with his latest performance coping technique... At least he stood up. He does actually enjoy preschool most of the time and--I'm told--often participates in circle time without "all the mommies there"

An easier next day: Just us Martins...and the good folks at the library.

Being brave and patient. Waiting in line to ask the librarian for help finding Peter Pan.

The best place Peter could find to store his half-eaten apple

My favorite men on Sushi Saturday

When the kids get too quiet in the other room while getting ready for church Sunday, they might be up to...this:

Portrait of Mommy, by Peter. Those lines on the arms are all my fingers.

We are snow-starved this winter. The kids and I prayed for snow...and it did! But alas, it was just a dusting. We need to be more specific about the amount.

For some reason, the kids campaigned for a picnic that day, so here's a shot from lunch.

And I'll leave off with this comfy-cozy anecdote (a boy-raising rite of passage, right?)
Once upon a bedtime, I pulled back my covers to find...
