“But whoever would be great among you must be
your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. For
even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as
a ransom for many.” -Mark 10:43-45
Peter adores his Daddy--no question. Whether playing, reading, looking at the garden, watching cars, practicing walking, or anything else, Daddy is tons of fun. What is also really sweet to me is how evidently Tom loves Peter. Not just a sentimental heart-warmed-by-the-smiley-baby love, or even a proud dad kind of love. This is that biblical love that has legs, the love that is a verb. That lays down it's life, that "counts others more significant," that serves instead of trying to be served. Peter feels it, even if he can't identify it. But even more importantly, our Heavenly Father, who created and loves the smallest of us, sees it--and I know He is so pleased. Well done, my Love. What a wonderful father you are! God has been so kind to Peter and me in giving you to us as the head of our little family and we're gratefully celebrating that this Father's Day.
